Soft Boiled
Soft Boiled is the featured swatchy for the April 2025 Issue of FAGIOLINA. This is probably simultaneously my funniest and bleakest illustration… “Mama pressed too hard on her sweet baby.”
At this point (April 2025), I’ve developed a semi-consistent technique to rendering these. I start with the base swatch color, use a darkened version of its complementary for shadows and outlines, and go in with halftone colors for accents. Technically there’s more color variety than just those, because I use different layer settings.
This drawing took about three hours, and I recorded most of my process with this one. Watchy below
