July says Goodbye

31 days… let’s see how many boxes I checked off from the intro!

Didn’t upload the archives for the cover image… but at least I made the cover. I probably will not do this later, so you can consider these pictures lost Flamedia.

I featured Natural Almond as this months swatchy, like I said I would! Yay me, Flaminia!

Did I have fun on my trip to PTown? Yeaaaah. There were some great moments (along with many other moments I do not wish to delve further into right now). I got to see two legends, Dina Martina and Varla Jean Merman. <- I wrote about their shows a little bit.

At the time of writing this I haven’t put diary pages in each FAGIOLINA issue yet… I’ll do it today… Maybe.

I did not record any singing. Oh actually I sort of did! I sang Rainbow Connection at the Chez on July 3rd (a date I only remember because I title my photo pages by day now) and tested out a new field recorder. The quality of the audio is good, but it’s tough to hear me, Flaminia, over the audience of plebeians that don’t know how to shut the hell up while a chanteuse is singing excited fans I’m so grateful for <3 And the video is a little shaky since I forgot to pack the tripod. Not even worth posting, but it was good practice.

I kinda lumped a few of this months goals together to save time. I answered a fan question, featured another local performer, and edited together a short video all in one. I posted this editorial tutorial. Fellow diva Blu Berri Moore asked how I edited our pictures so nice, so I made a video giving a brief overview of my editing process.

The secreeet pages! ooooh so mysterious. I did start them again! Then I remembered why I abandoned the idea last time. It’s a cute idea on paper, but a logistical pain in the ass. I’ll tell you about it now, since I’m not debuting it at the comedy pageant like I had planned.

I was going to make a wiki, Flaminia. A series of pages with information, misinformation, and lore about performers. Along with giving context for some things that get talked about a lot, but are a little confusing for people unfamiliar with drag culture. Gigs, drag houses, padding, stuff like that. I had this idea over a year ago and shelved it. Then I thought of it again while rewatching Snatch Game with my mother (birth mother not drag mother) and realizing I had to give context to sooo many references about specific queens for these jokes to make sense.

I did not put together a highlight reel for Snatch Game yet. It’s still on my to do list, but I have bigger irons in the fire right now.

I have kept up with my gamedev studies. Earlier this month I finished the second practice project (again nothing worth posting, but good experience).

Did I complete all my goals? Nope! Having the list was helpful though, I feel like I got a good amount done for it. For next month I’ll sort them by priority, that way it will be even more helpful to refer back to.

Hope you enjoyed this month’s issue, wherever and whenever you’re reading this from.

Always yours,

Flaminia Fagiolina

P.S. I should make a cuter signature asset…
